What this site collects.

The short version

This site sets no cookies, runs no advertising, and has no accounts, forms, or sign-ups. Reading a page here does not create a profile of you, and nothing you do on the site is used to follow you to another one.

The only information involved is the aggregate page-view count described below — gathered by one analytics script, disclosed in full in the next section — and the ordinary server records any web host keeps in order to serve a request.

Aggregate analytics

The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. Counting works through a small collector script that loads on every page from this domain, at /_vercel/insights/script.js, and reports each view back to /_vercel/insights. The script is served from josanlabs.com rather than an external host, but it is Vercel's code, and it is the one piece of tracking on this site.

What it reports is totals: which pages were viewed, the referring site, the visitor's country, and broad device and browser categories. It sets no cookies, assigns no persistent identifier, and does not track visitors between sites.

These numbers exist so I can tell which project writeups people actually read. They are not tied to a name, an email address, or an advertising identifier, and they are not sold or shared.

Server records

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes the standard details a browser sends with each request — IP address, user agent, the URL requested, and a timestamp — to deliver pages and to protect the service from abuse. This processing is Vercel's, carried out on my behalf as the site's host.

I do not maintain a separate log, database, or analytics store of my own beyond what is described on this page.

Fonts and third-party requests

The typefaces used here, Cormorant Garamond and Source Sans 3, are downloaded when the site is built and served from this domain. Loading a page therefore makes no request to Google Fonts or any other third-party font host.

Apart from the analytics collector described above, the site embeds no third-party scripts: no advertising tags, no cross-site tracking pixels, no comment widgets, video players, or social buttons.

Email

If you write to the public inbox, I receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in the message. I use it to reply and nothing else.

You are not added to a mailing list, and your address is never sold or passed to a third party. If you would like our correspondence deleted, ask and I will delete it.

Links away from this site

Some links lead to separate deployments — the cranalytics documentation and the Lending Concepts application — and others lead off the site entirely. Once you follow a link, the destination's own privacy practices apply, not this page.

Automated clients and AI agents

Every page here is published in a machine-readable form as well as HTML, and those copies are free to fetch, quote with attribution, and index. An agent's request is served and logged exactly like a browser's; nothing additional is collected because a request came from software.

Changes to this page

Material changes to this policy are dated here and recorded in the site's public changelog. If the site ever begins collecting something it does not collect today, this page will say so before that starts.
